In her Letter, I. C. Burke urges scientists to examine the environmental consequences of their own frequent travel. She suggests that enhanced video-teleconferencing technology could effectively simulate face-to-face interactions, making alternatives to traditional conferences more feasible and in turn reducing greenhouse gas emissions by eliminating some travel to meeting sites.
