The way you cry as a baby may predict your voice as an adult

The pitch of a 4-month-old baby’s cry predicted the pitch of their speech once they reach 5 years old, researchers report in Biology Letters. Together with a previous study, which found that the pitch of a 7-year-old’s voice predicted what that child sounded like as an adult, the new finding suggests that the sound of our adult voice is determined in utero, The New York Times reports. Only 15 children were used for the study, however, so the sample size may be too small to draw meaningful conclusions.
