Girl Scouts are pretty effective in changing the world, at least when it comes to saving energy, the Los Angeles Times reports. In a study published by the journal Nature Energy, researchers found that some Girl Scouts were able to boost their energy saving activities by as much as 49% after completing some courses on energy conservation. More than 300 Girl Scouts and their parents participated in programs to learn about energy conservation, and by the time they completed the course the girls had increased their household energy-saving activities by 49%. Parents also learned to save energy. With these promising results, researchers hope to bring the program to more troops in the future.
