Stephen Hawking: Black holes may lead to other universes

Black holes get their name from the fact that nothing escapes them, but Stephen Hawking now thinks that there could be a way out of a black hole—through another universe. In a lecture last week at Harvard University, the physicist said that he no longer thinks that what is sucked into a black hole is completely destroyed, comparing it to a burned encyclopedia, where all the information is still there even if it’s not recognizable anymore. How black holes can store so much information is still unclear, but Hawking said that they could be sending it to other universes or even sending it back into our universe in completely different forms, The Boston Globe reports.
