World's deepest cave holds chilly new bug

Researchers have discovered a new species of beetle living in the deepest cave on Earth, Discovery News reports. Found in Russia’s Krubera cave, which reaches depths of about 2130 meters, the beetle has been named Duvalius abyssimus. Described in Zootaxa, the beetle is a centimeter long and has adapted to a life without light and heat, withstanding constant temperatures of about 7.2°C.
