This frog could help us journey through space

A species of frog that hibernates for months could hold the key to future space voyages, The Independent reports. Dubbed Cyclorana alboguttata, or the striped burrowing frog, the species is able to maintain its muscle mass even though it goes unused for months while it hibernates. Astronauts normally lose their muscle when out in space, but scientists hope to use the amphibian to find a way to stop their strength from wasting away, or to develop a unique therapy to treat muscle loss.
