Vaccinations Change Your Scent

After you get a vaccine, you may come out smelling a little different. Scientists have found that mice who were vaccinated with either the rabies or West Nile virus had differences in urine odors, while mice treated with lipopolysaccharide, a bacterial toxin, experienced a change in body odor. The researchers, whose study will be published in the 10 April issue of Physiology & Behavior, believe the same changes may be happening in humans when they receive vaccinations and suggest the information could be used to develop new methods to detect disease.
