Is Too Much Screen Time Bad for Your Bones?

Whether it's watching television or a movie or playing with a video game or iPhone app, kids always seem to be in front of a screen. Scientists curious about how all this affects the bones studied more than 800 boys' and girls' bone densities. For boys, they found that higher screen time on the weekends was adversely related to bone density. However, girls who spent 4 to 6 hours on the computer showed better bone density levels than girls who spent less time in front of the screen. The researchers, who are still trying to understand their findings for females, will present their work today at the World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases in Seville, Spain.
