Want to Lose Weight? Eat Bigger Cereal Flakes

The amount of calories you take in from your breakfast cereal might just depend on the size of the flakes you’re eating, according to a study published online this month in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Researchers who reduced the flake size of breakfast cereal found that when cereal pieces are smaller, people eat a greater amount by weight and calorie content. That’s because small flaked cereal takes up a lot less space than large flaked cereal does, so it doesn’t appear to be a big portion when it’s in the bowl.
