Could Tobacco Fight West Nile?

It turns out that the tobacco plant might be more beneficial than we thought. Researchers are using the plant to develop therapeutics that have proven effective against the West Nile virus. In a study published this week in PLOS ONE, scientists describe how the plant-derived antibodies were injected into mice infected with the virus. In 90% of the cases, the mice evaded death and eventually made a full recovery, The Verge reports.
