Jennifer Carpenter

Jennifer has contributed to Science since 2010, covering an assortment of stories in palaeontology, evolutionary biology and science policy from the UK and Canada.  Her favourite stories are those where she gets to explore the conflicts created when the technologies of science are leaps ahead of bioethics.

Jennifer earned her Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh in evolutionary genetics during which she spent an inordinate amount of time listening to the BBC while pushing sick fruit flies around with a paintbrush. Before going freelance, she worked as a broadcast journalist for the BBC in London.

Jennifer was born in London, but raised between Montreal and Bristol. Not having enough of transatlantic flights she now splits her time between Toronto and London.
