Alaina G. Levine
Alaina G. Levine is an award-winning entrepreneur, science journalist, STEM careers consultant, professional speaker, and corporate comedian. A long-time freelance contributor to Science Careers, she writes the recurring Your Unicorn Career column, which focuses on understanding your value and creating professional bliss. Levine is the author of Networking for Nerds, published by Wiley in 2015, which was named one of the top five books of 2015 by Physics Today. As president of Quantum Success Solutions, she has been advising scientists and engineers about their careers for almost 2 decades. She has given more than 700 keynotes, workshops, and webinars for clients in the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Africa, and Asia, and she is the author of more than 400 articles in publications including Science, Nature, World Economic Forum, Smithsonian, Scientific American, COSMOS, and IEEE Spectrum. A contributing correspondent to the American Physical Society’s APS News, Levine has also served as a contributor to National Geographic News Watch and a career columnist for Physics Today. Most recently, Levine authored two online courses for Oxford University Press on career development and entrepreneurship. She is serving as a consultant, speaker, and writer for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, and is the event manager for an international conference on phononics. She holds undergraduate degrees in mathematics and anthropology from the University of Arizona, and she studied abroad at the American University in Cairo as a U.S. Department of Defense National Security Education Program/Boren Fellow.
