Metered Access for News from Science

Updated: 1 April 2021

The news staff of Science and our contributing freelancers bring you breaking news and analysis from the world of research and science policy, as well as multimedia and brief articles that point you to the best science stories on the web.

In June 2018, we launched a metered paywall for News from Science articles. Under the metered paywall, visitors to News from Science who view more than five News articles within a 30-day period, who are not already logged in as AAAS Members or as News subscribers, are asked to register or subscribe for unlimited news access. AAAS Members or those readers who already have a subscription to News from Science can simply log in if presented with the metered paywall.

Please note that by registering or subscribing to News from Science, you have the option to be added to Science/AAAS internal lists and you may receive marketing about Membership and subscription offers from AAAS. We will not share contact information with our external marketing partners unless a reader offers permission for us to do so.

AAAS Members who sign in have unlimited access to News from Science content. Learn more about AAAS Membership here.

News from Science Subscription Pricing Change

Please note that on April 30, 2021, AAAS is introducing new subscription pricing plans for News from Science. Effective April 30, 2021, the monthly subscription for new subscribers will be $2.99/month and a new annual subscription option will be offered for $25/year.

If you are a current News subscriber as of April 30, 2021, this change will not immediately affect you. Following a six-month grace period ending effective November 1, 2021 however, your account will be automatically switched to the new monthly price of $2.99/month. You also have the option to upgrade to an annual $25/year subscription at any time after April 30, 2021.

AAAS is a non-profit organization, and high-quality journalism is costly to sustain. These changes will support the excellent value of our news content and allow us to keep delivering daily science news as we continuously improve our site and develop new features. Your News from Science subscription goes directly to supporting thorough, thoughtful science journalism, and we are grateful for your continued support.

Unlimited access to News from Science content continues to be included in AAAS Membership. Learn more about AAAS Membership here.
