AAAS provides institutional subscribers with COUNTER, Extended-Detail, Annual Usage: Year End Roll-up, and Unsuccessful Requests reports.

Both Institutional and Consortial Administrators may access these usage reports via username and password. These reports are generated monthly and are generally made available 10-15 days after the close of each month, and many of the reports are exportable.

These usage reports are filled with valuable statistics that help Administrators analyze the AAAS family of e-resources. A brief description of each report is available below:

INSTITUTIONAL USAGE REPORTS

1.) COUNTER Usage Report
This monthly report tracks Journal article usage (HTML & PDF) and is cumulative year-to-date.

ADDITIONAL DETAIL REPORTS

  1. For institutes with a site license to Science Classic (digital archive: 1880-1996) AAAS will separate out the current (Science 1997 - present) article usage from the backfile (Science Classic 1880-1996) usage.
  2. For institutes with a site license to Science Signaling AAAS provides separate usage statistics.
  3. For Non-Subscribers of Science Classic AAAS provides Administrators with a new report titled "Science Classic Unsuccessful Requests". This report is in the familiar "COUNTER-style" format and tracks the number of times end users have attempted to access articles contained in the digital archive, but were turned away because the institute does not have a current site license to Science Classic (digital archive: 1880-1996).
  4. For Non-Subscribers of Science Signaling AAAS provides Administrators with a new report titled "Science Signaling Unsuccessful Requests". This report is in the familiar "COUNTER-style" format and tracks the number of times end users have attempted to access articles contained in this e-resource, but were turned away because the institute does not have a current site license to Science Signaling.

2.) Extended-Detail Usage Report
This monthly usage report includes additional statistics such as Hits to the Homepage and Tables of Contents, Number of Searches Performed, Abstract Views, as well as full-text HTML and PDF downloads.

Administrators may also view their institute’s "Article Usage by Topic". This report shows how many abstracts or articles relating to a specific topic were downloaded in any given month.
