How to Register Your IP Addresses

New Subscriptions

After AAAS has processed your order, you will receive a letter and/or e-mail message indicating your subscription is ready for activation. You will need to take the following steps to activate your account (for detailed screen shots contact scienceonline@aaas.org):

1. Go to http://www.sciencemag.org/subscriptions/inst_activate.dtl

2. Enter your 8-digit AAAS number as assigned in the confirmation letter. Enter the first 8 digits only. Include leading zeroes.

3. Follow the instructions to establish a user name and password for your site administrator. We recommend you record this information with the acquisition record for the title, so that others can find it later if necessary. You will always use your user name and password to manage your account such as adding or changing IP addresses, updating your profile, and checking COUNTER usage statistics.

4. Review and indicate your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions agreement

5. Carefully review the section Help With IP Addresses before you activate your subscription.

6. Enter your IP addresses. Administrators of sitewide institutional subscriptions may enter ranges and wild cards for IP addresses. Access to these publications is granted only for individuals with a current direct affiliation with the Licensee ("Authorized Users"), which may include, for example, employees, students, or a visitor to the physical campus who is authorized to use the library network.

7. You will receive e-mail confirmation that your institutional subscription has been activated.

8. You are responsible for maintaining your IP Address List, making changes or corrections as necessary. To do this, click on the Subscriptions button and select Institutional Subscriptions/Manage Institutional Account/Change Subscription Information.

Renewing Institutional Access and Adding a Knowledge Environment

Once you renew your subscription or add a Knowledge Environment, you will receive notification from AAAS regarding the management of your account. It is not necessary to reactivate but we do recommend you keep your profile at AAAS up-to-date and check to make sure all of your IP addresses are current. E-mail: scienceonline{at}aaas.org
