In a tour-de-force of information presentation in limited space, illustrator David Fierstein provided a cut-away view of Europe's largest and perhaps most dangerous volcano, Mt. Etna. Fierstein complements the colorful depiction of the volcano's innnards (including color-coded strata corresponding to stages of the volcano's evolution) with insets showing Etna's plate-tectonic setting and the spatial distribution of recent eruptions.
