The Republic of Cuba, which consists of the island of Cuba and numerous smaller islands, is located in the northern Caribbean, at the confluence of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the North Atlantic Ocean. Cuba is a one-party communist state with a population of about 11.3 million. Havana is its capital and largest city.
