Of all the major areas of nanoresearch being pursued in China, nanomaterial fabrication has taken center stage. A particularly fast-moving line of research involves carbon nanotubes -- thin cylinders of graphite, with remarkable tensile strength and high thermal and chemical stability. These tiny tubes can be metallic or semiconducting and therefore offer endless possibilities for nanoelectronic devices, circuits, and computers.
