Of Stones and Health: Medical Geology in Sri Lanka

Chandrasekara Dissanayake, University of Peradeniya

Chandra Dissanayake, author of this month's essay, is a senior professor of geology at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He is a pioneer of geochemical research in Sri Lanka and for nearly 30 years has focused his efforts on the little known field of medical geology. He is a recipient of his country's National Award for Science and is a fellow of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World.
