Chunli Bai, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Chunli Bai, author of this month's essay, is the Executive Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a pioneer in the field of scanning tunneling microscopy and has been instrumental in furthering China's nanotechnology research both as a scientist and on the policy level. Bai is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World and has been honored with several awards and prizes in China and Hong Kong.
