Science in the Arab World: Vision of Glories Beyond

Wasim Maziak, Syrian Center for Tobacco Studies

Wasim Maziak, author of this month's essay, is the director of the Syrian Center for Tobacco Studies in Aleppo, a pioneer collaborative research center in the Arab world. Much of his research career has been devoted to the study of asthma and tobacco use and addiction. Most recently he initiated the Research Assistance Matching (RAM) program aimed at helping researchers in developing countries get specialized assistance in their research projects.
