After conducting more than 500 interviews with couples living in Kisumu County in Kenya, researchers know a bit more about the factors that prompt a woman to cheat. Domestic violence, denial of preferred sex positions, and a partner with large genitalia each increase the likelihood of an extramarital affair. On the other hand, women who report being sexually satisfied and those who are age 25 and older, are less likely to cheat. Researchers conducted the study, published this month in PLOS ONE, to learn why females put themselves at risk for HIV, and to try to create preventative programs that address the issues.
