Watch: How to control a robot fleet using a smart tablet

Researchers have discovered how to control multiple robots at once using a smart tablet, the Georgia Institute of Technology announced today. With the tablet, a person can control where a beam of red light is projected on the floor, which the robots move toward by continually communicating with each other. As a person moves the location of the light—with the swipe of a finger—the robots follow suit. The technology could be used one day when controlling large groups of robots, especially in areas like manufacturing or farming or when responding to disasters, the researchers say.
