The first-ever international “scent” message was transmitted this week between New York City and Paris, LiveScience reports. Adding to the experience of online messaging, the new technology lets users tag photos with more than 300,000 scents, then send them to anyone near an oPhone—a device that spews out the aroma. In this case, the receivers got a whiff of champagne and macaroons, which was what the Paris developers were savoring to celebrate the big moment.
