One thousand meters below the ocean waves, the Hebrides Terrace Seamount teems with strange life. Researchers from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, in the United Kingdom, sent a remotely operated submersible vehicle down to videotape more than 100 species living on the deep-sea mountain, BBC News reports. They found black and bamboo corals, octopuses, and even the egg cases of a threatened deep-sea skate, the researchers describe in Scientific Reports.
