Watch: Babies outsmart clever crows

The intellectual crow has finally been outwitted … by a bunch of babies, Wired UK reports. Scientists let the two species observe that a block dropped into a container would result in a prize. Whereas babies immediately caught on to the idea and began doing the same to get the reward, crows could not complete the task. The experiment, published online this week in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B, suggests that birds can’t understand the concept of cause and effect by observation, whereas 2-year-old kids can.
