Watch: Asteroid Impacts More Common Than Thought

A startling video outfitted with hair-raising background music reveals that asteroid impacts are much more common than we thought, Wired UK reports. Released by the B612 Foundation, an organization whose mission is to protect Earth from asteroid impacts, the video describes how sensors used to detect nuclear blasts identified 26 explosions on Earth ranging from 1 to 600 kilotons since 2001. Of course, those blasts weren’t nuclear bombs; they were asteroids. Most of the impacts just explode too high in the atmosphere to cause damage.
