Mars rover takes a selfie

To celebrate 687 days on the Red Planet, or one martian year, the Curiosity rover stretched out its arm and took a selfie. Though it may look a bit forlorn and dusty, NASA’s little wanderer has contributed a lot to science during its time on the planet, Mashable reports. Its main goal, which was to determine if Mars ever had conditions that could sustain life, was accomplished after finding that an ancient lake once existed. It’s also been able to help analyze the planet’s radiation levels and atmosphere.
