How to get the fireworks started

Here’s a way to make your family and friends ooh and aah this July 4th: Tell them how fireworks get their colors. Different metal salts—for example, copper sulfate (blue), boric acid (red), and strontium chloride (green)—are responsible for the vivid displays. Science Friday offers up some home science experiments to help explore which metals produce which colors.
