A Good Night's Rest Boosts Learning

We all know that rest is good for you, but what exactly is our brain up to while we’re asleep? Researchers studying the brains of mice have found that a significant number of connections form between neurons during rest, while those that are sleep-deprived have less neuronal links, BBC reports. The finding, published this week in Science, suggests that mice that get ample amounts of rest perform better on newly learned tasks because the connections help with learning and memory.
