Could a Cooling Spray Chill the Planet?

Using a balloon that will fly over New Mexico, two Harvard University engineers will test out a spray that could possibly cool the planet, The Guardian reports. The experiment will mimic what active volcanoes do on a smaller scale: spew sulfate particles into the stratosphere, which reflect incoming sunlight back out into space. The researchers will measure the technology's impact on the region's ozone to see whether the method could curb global warming.
