Butterflies and Wild Bees Are Disappearing

Honey bees may not be the only pollinators at risk of disappearing. According to Wired, nearly one-third of bumblebee species are declining, and the monarch butterfly population is now only a small fraction of what it used to be. Like honey bees, these insects are sensitive to pesticides, but they also may be impacted by habitat loss. Researchers suggest creating pollinator-friendly zones on farms and in backyards to avert disaster.
