3D Lasers May Help Preserve Ancient Artifacts

Once unearthed, ancient artifacts or archaeological sites begin to deteriorate after constant contact with humans. But what if we could preserve them forever? Archaeologists are beginning to create identical copies of sites, like King Tut's tomb, with the help of high-res photography and 3D lasers that scan objects, National Geographic reports. During the process, known as cyber archaeology, foam boards are then precisely cut to the exact shape of the artifacts.
