Update: Afghan all-girl robotics team gains entry to the United States

Following backlash from human rights and political activists, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is allowing an Afghan all-girl robotics team to temporarily visit the United States and compete in an international robotics competition taking place in Washington, D.C., next week, Politico reports. The teenage girls were granted special entry to the United States along with the members of team Gambia, whose travel visas had also been previously denied by the U.S. State Department. It is still unclear why the applications were rejected in the first place.
