Just one workout a week can lower risk of death

If you’re already starting to feel like your News Year’s resolution to work out every day is falling through, fear not: A new study found that hitting the gym even once a week can lengthen your lifespan, Reuters reports. Researchers studied the exercise patterns of 63,591 adults from 1994 to 2012, and found that even people who did only one to two intense workout sessions a week—commonly dubbed “weekend warriors”—had a 30% lower risk of death than those who didn’t exercise at all, they report this week in JAMA Internal Medicine.
