Fungus could help combat Zika virus

Researchers may have discovered a natural way to prevent the Zika-carrying Aedes aegypti mosquito from spreading. The fungus Metarhizium brunneum attacks the larvae of the mosquitos, and could be an eco-friendly way of controlling the bugs, STAT reports. Writing in PLOS Pathogens, researchers say the approach is relatively cost effective and safe for humans.
