Your big brain may be making you sick

For the most part, having a big brain is a good thing (see: Albert Einstein). However, there may be a downside to that plus-size noggin; new research shows that there is a link between bigger brains and lower immunity, Discovery News reports. Examining guppies that were specially bred to have either large or small heads, the researchers found that those with the larger noggins were more vulnerable to disease, they report this week in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B. Don’t go crying over your egghead just yet, though: The researchers say that what the bigger-brained lack in immunity, they usually make up for in other weapons against infection.
