Celebrity Images Grown From Armpit Bacteria

British celebrities, including Stephen Fry and Carol Vorderman, happily handed in swabs of bacteria from their armpits to take part in a project that grew portraits from germs. The Daily Mail reports that the artist’s secret process included turning digital photos of the stars into halftones—images reduced to one color with dots of varying sizes—and placing the halftones over petri dishes containing the celeb’s bacteria. After being left alone for 48 hours, picture-perfect “bacteriographs” of the superstars emerged.
