23andMe's Accidental Sample Swap

23andMe has informed customers that it mistakenly mixed up samples from as many as 96 people, reportedly leaving at least one parent worrying that her daughter had been switched at birth with another baby. The company hasn't yet commented publicly on the mistake, releasing information only to its customers, reprocessing the samples in question, and considering ways to prevent a repeat.
