Chung To, a Hong Kong native, went to high school in San Francisco in the early 1980s. "As a gay man, a lot of my friends died," says To. He became a banker and moved back to Hong Kong in 1995, but about 2 years ago he decided to quit and start a foundation, Chi Heng, devoted to helping HIV-infected people in China. Chi Heng now does work in villages that have many infections caused by blood selling (on laptop), orphans, and gay men. "I was overwhelmed by the AIDS situation," said To. "The world can live with one less banker."
