Jordan Tappero heads the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) branch in Bangkok, Thailand. In collaboration with the Thai Ministry of Public Health, CDC researchers had by the end of 2002 published 154 scientific papers, copies of which lined the wall behind Tappero. If another group of AIDS researchers working in Asia has published more studies, I'll eat a plate of fried caterpillars (which we were served in China--and they don't taste like chicken, either).
