A Tree of Life

In this online version of the diagram from Science's Tree of Life Special Issue, we've included links to a variety of resources to add context to the tree's graphical representation. Clicking on the labeled branch points (e.g., "Eukarya," "Metazoa") will pop up a brief summary of the characteristics of the branch. The taxa in the central column, meanwhile (e.g., "spirochaetes," "scorpions," etc.), are linked to Internet sites and Web pages with additional information on those taxa. (For more on how the tree was constructed, see Elizabeth Pennisi's summary, Drafting a Tree.)
