The woman running this orphanage outside Kampala, Uganda, asked these children if they would like to sing for the visitors, which included four Italian AIDS researchers, Malcolm, and me. The kids blushed, but then, little hams that kids are, started to perform. Soon they were swaying and singing a gorgeous, call back hymnlike song, with a grace that transcended their years. We clapped for them long and hard.
