A disinfectant turned this Ugandan man's crusty feet red, accentuating his fulminant case of Kaposi's sarcoma. The man and his father told me how he had become infected with HIV while working in a field. "I stepped on something," the 24-year-old man said. "I think he put his leg on a cancer," his father added. A brother then revealed that the man's wife had since left him: "We Africans, if you are sick, your wife will leave you because you have no power."
