HIV/AIDS: Historical Essays

In its 29 November 2002 issue, which coincides with World AIDS Day, Science offers essays on the scientific background and history of the discovery and characterization of the HIV virus -- by the two key protagonists in the early quest to isolate the AIDS pathogen, as well as by a neutral third-party scientist who offers an informed outsider's perspective on the controversial early history of the discovery. (To provide additional context, we've also posted a collection of historical news articles on the story on Science Online.)
