The DNA sequences of clones used to infer the sequence of a fragment of the 12s RNA gene from the Gypsum Cave coprolite. Above each amplification are the consensus sequences derived from the clones. Dots represent identity to the consensus. The primers are given for the first clone from each set of clones. Asterisks mark sites that were resolved by information from sequences of the overlapping amplification products shown. Ambiguous bases are indicated by standard abbreviations. Dashes indicate deletions. In one PCR fragment, 2 of the 10 clones sequenced were of human origin (not shown).
