COVER A bow shock around a young star in the Orion nebula, imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope. A similar interstellar shock marks the edge of our solar system. Voyager 1 is heading toward this edge and recently crossed a second inner "termination shock" where the solar wind abruptly slows as it approaches the interstellar medium.
