COVER The progeny from adult mouse brain neural stem cells contributes to the generation of kidney tubules after injection into the early chick embryo. Kidney tubule cells express Pax2, and the presence of this marker (red) in nuclei of neural stem cell-derived cells (blue labeling in cytoplasm) indicates that they have the potential to generate nonneural cells.
