The mechanical properties of high polymers crystalized from a melt depend largly upon the nature of the connecting material between thin rebbon-like crystals. The transmission electron micrograph, shadow-cast at 23 degrees, shows fibrous links between aggregats of crystals in a thin film of polyethylene (about X 65,000). see page 1026.
