A sensory ganglion expalanted from a 7-day chick embryo and cultured in vitro for 18 hours in a medium supplemented with the salivary nerve growth factor. This factor calls forth the production of nerve fibers which form a dense fibrillar halo around the ganglion. The same results obtain with sympathetic ganglia. See page 105.
